Job Summary

Leap Contracting INC. is seeking a skilled Drywall Taper to join our team. As a Drywall Taper, you will be responsible for applying successive coats of compound and sanding seams and joints to ensure a smooth finish.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare Tenders and Quotations: Develop and submit detailed estimates for drywall installation projects.
  • Apply Coats of Compound: Apply successive coats of compound to drywall seams and joints, ensuring a smooth and even finish.
  • Sand and Finish: Sand and finish drywall surfaces to a high standard, ensuring a smooth and even finish.
  • Clean and Prepare Surfaces: Clean and prepare surfaces for drywall installation, including removing old adhesives and debris.
  • Cure Freshly Plastered Surfaces: Apply specialized coatings to freshly plastered surfaces to ensure a strong and durable finish.
  • Filling Joints and Holes: Fill joints, nail indentations, holes, and cracks with joint compound using a trowel and broad knife.
  • Finishing Corners and Angles: Finish corners and angles, and create decorative designs in the finish coat, if required.
  • Measuring and Installing Drywall: Measure, cut, fit, and install drywall sheets to ensure a precise and accurate fit.
  • Moulding and Installing Ornamental Plaster: Mould and install ornamental plaster panels, cornices, and trim to add a decorative touch to drywall installations.
  • Taping and Embedding Tape: Tape over joints using a taping machine and embed tape in compound to ensure a strong and durable bond.
  • Installing Steel Studs: Install exterior and interior steel studs to provide a sturdy framework for drywall installations.
  • Working at Heights: Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages, to install drywall and other materials.
  • Erecting and Installing Scaffolding: Erect and install scaffolding, falsework, and other working platforms to ensure safe and efficient access to work areas.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in drywall installation and finishing.
  • Language: English.
  • Work Hours: 40 hours per week.
