About the Job

We are seeking a skilled Drywall Taper to join our team at Young Boy Drywall Ltd. As a key member of our crew, you will be responsible for installing and finishing drywall to ensure a smooth and durable surface for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints to achieve a seamless finish
  • Apply, level, and smooth coats of plaster to create a smooth surface
  • Clean and prepare surfaces for drywall installation
  • Cure freshly plastered surfaces to ensure durability
  • Cut and install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners
  • Fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids and place in panels to form acoustical and coffered ceilings
  • Fill joints, nail indentations, holes, and cracks with joint compound using a trowel and broad knife
  • Finish corners and angles and create decorative designs in the finish coat, if required
  • Measure, cut, fit, and install drywall sheets to ensure a precise fit
  • Mix plaster ingredients to the desired consistency
  • Mould and install ornamental plaster panels, cornices, and trim
  • Position and secure sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists
  • Smooth out excess compound and allow the coat to dry
  • Spray acoustic or texture materials over walls and ceilings
  • Tape over joints using a taping machine and embed tape in compound
  • Trowel or spray coats of stucco over exteriors of buildings to form weatherproof surfaces
  • Install corner beads and wire mesh around beams to which plaster is to be applied
  • Install metal stud framing and furring for interior drywall or plaster walls and ceilings, using hand and power tools
  • Utilize a laser alignment system to ensure precision
Work Environment

As a Drywall Taper, you will work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on quality and safety. You will be required to work at heights, in noisy conditions, and in a physically demanding environment.

Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in drywall installation and finishing
  • Ability to work at heights and in a physically demanding environment
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
