About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Drywall Taper to join our team at Young Boy Drywall Ltd. As a key member of our crew, you will be responsible for installing and finishing drywall to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints to ensure a smooth finish.
  • Apply, level, and smooth coats of plaster to create a durable and attractive surface.
  • Clean and prepare surfaces to ensure a strong bond between drywall and plaster.
  • Cure freshly plastered surfaces to prevent damage and ensure a long-lasting finish.
  • Cut and install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners and prevent damage.
  • Fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids and place in panels to form acoustical and coffered ceilings.
  • Fill joints, nail indentations, holes, and cracks with joint compound using a trowel and broad knife.
  • Finish corners and angles and create decorative designs in the finish coat, if required.
  • Measure, cut, fit, and install drywall sheets to ensure a precise fit.
  • Mix plaster ingredients to the desired consistency to achieve a strong and durable finish.
  • Mould and install ornamental plaster panels, cornices, and trim to add a touch of elegance to our projects.
  • Position and secure sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists to ensure a stable and secure installation.
  • Smooth out excess compound and allow the coat to dry to prevent damage and ensure a smooth finish.
  • Spray acoustic or texture materials over walls and ceilings to create a unique and attractive finish.
  • Tape over joints using a taping machine and embed tape in compound to ensure a strong bond.
  • Trowel or spray coats of stucco over exteriors of buildings to form weatherproof surfaces.
  • Install corner beads and wire mesh around beams to which plaster is to be applied to ensure a strong and durable finish.
  • Install metal stud framing and furring for interior drywall or plaster walls and ceilings, using hand and power tools.
  • Utilize a laser alignment system to ensure precise and accurate installations.
Work Environment

As a Drywall Taper at Young Boy Drywall Ltd., you will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, installing and finishing drywall in a variety of settings, including commercial and residential projects.

Requirements
  • 1-2 years of experience in drywall installation and finishing.
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Ability to work at heights and in a physically demanding environment.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
