Registered Nurse

The Registered Nurse (RN) with the Critical Care Float (LHO/LHAP) will utilize nursing process in providing exceptional patient care. The nurse will participate as a member of the Resource Pool Nursing Team for the Critical Care site specific programs.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain competence and professionalism relevant to current practice.
- Responsible for maintaining the health record according to hospital policy, procedure and standards.
- Participate in the Quality Assurance Program as outlined by the CNO.
- Provide patient care in Critical Care/Intensive Care/Cardiopulmonary/Emergency settings.
- Interpret cardiac rhythms and perform patient assessments.
- Monitor ventilators and haemodynamic systems.
- Develop and implement effective organizational, prioritization, critical thinking, time management, problem-solving and teaching skills.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Assume a charge/supervisory role as needed.
- Meet physical demands of the job, including lifting, turning, and transferring patients.
- Participate in ongoing professional development activities.
- Meet performance expectations and maintain a satisfactory attendance record.
- Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Current B.L.S.
- B.Sc.N. and A.C.L.S. preferred.
- Critical care certificate completion preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining the Quality Assurance Program as outlined by the CNO.
- Recent significant Critical Care/Intensive Care/Cardiopulmonary/Emergency experience.
- Proven cardiac rhythm interpretation and patient assessment skills.
- Proven effective organizational, prioritization, critical thinking, time management, problem-solving and teaching skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven sound judgement, good observation skills, tact and empathy.
- Demonstrated ability to assume a charge/supervisory role.
- Physically capable to lift, turn, transfer patients manually and with assistance.
- Demonstrated ongoing professional development activities.
- Must have a satisfactory performance record.

The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and the Ontario Nurses Association (RN Bargaining Unit Local 051).
Successful External applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.
