Procurement Specialist

Your Role:
Under the guidance of the Purchasing and Materials Superintendent, the Procurement Specialist will be responsible for negotiating and managing contracts for services and materials, maintenance agreements, and projects, while adhering to company policies and relevant legislation. The Procurement Specialist will also evaluate vendor and contractor proposals, keep abreast of new products and technologies, and implement strategies to optimize spending.
- Transforming requisitions into purchase orders and ensuring timely follow-up on outstanding orders.
- Gathering requirements from internal stakeholders to ensure their needs are met.
- Leading the collection and analysis of regional purchasing data, usage trends, and key suppliers.
- Building and nurturing relationships with external clients; facilitating discussions between service providers and internal teams.
- Preparing, distributing, collecting, and analyzing Requests for Proposal (RFP), Requests for Quote (RFQ), and Requests for Information (RFI).
- Reviewing terms and conditions for project personnel and daily contracts.
- Managing negotiations and capital expenditures.
- Assisting teams in conducting negotiations with financial and bid analysis.
- Overseeing the contractor pre-qualification process.
- Selecting suppliers using evaluation tools.
- Initiating and preparing Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) between the organization and suppliers.
- Analyzing the financial performance of suppliers.
- Establishing new suppliers, initiating payment terms, and acting as a liaison between contractors and the organization.
- Estimating cost-saving opportunities and developing sourcing strategies.
- Overseeing investment recovery processes, including the disposal of surplus materials.
- Collaborating on continuous improvement and total cost of ownership projects with operations, maintenance, engineering, and suppliers.
Your Qualifications:

- A minimum of 5 years of purchasing experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Completion of or enrollment in a recognized purchasing designation, preferably SCMP.
- In-depth understanding of contract negotiation and business management practices.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with employees at all organizational levels.
- Self-driven, with a strong sense of urgency and the ability to meet deadlines.
- A strong commitment to customer service excellence.
- Proficiency in MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word, and ERP systems.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- A desire for personal and professional growth.
