Position Overview:
The Field Service Technician I is responsible for executing a range of routine support tasks within the field service sector. This role involves diagnosing and rectifying technical and mechanical equipment malfunctions on-site. The technician must evaluate and respond to issues by utilizing established protocols to isolate and resolve equipment problems. Documentation of design, reliability, and maintenance challenges is conducted through field service management software.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnosing and repairing commercial and industrial floor cleaning machinery, either at the branch facility or directly at customer locations.
- Completing all necessary documentation related to service activities, including work performed, time logs, and additional reports as required by the Branch Supervisor.
- Maintaining current training and certifications pertinent to the role in a timely manner.
- Ensuring that the inventory of spare parts in the service vehicle is maintained at designated levels.
Educational Requirements:
- Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical institution; OR five years of relevant experience and training; OR a combination of education and experience that is equivalent.
Experience Requirements:
- Three to five years of prior mechanical or electrical experience in a similar or related field.
- Proven experience in diagnosing and repairing low voltage electrical systems, engines, and hydraulic systems.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Exceptional communication and customer service abilities.
- Strong organizational skills and effective communication capabilities.
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated product knowledge, ideally gained through practical experience.
- Proficient in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Solid understanding of internal combustion engines.
- Ability to interpret and follow electrical and hydraulic schematics.
- Competence in using various basic electrical testing and diagnostic tools, along with a thorough understanding of AC and DC electrical principles.
Certifications and Licenses:
- Valid Driver's License.
- DOT Certification.
Computer Proficiency:
- Familiarity with MS Office and other business applications.
Language Proficiency:
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently, and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operational instructions, and maintenance manuals.
- Capability to compose routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and organizational personnel.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical scenarios.
Reasoning Skills:
- Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
- Ability to tackle problems involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.
