Position Overview

The Senior Outfitting Engineer is responsible for overseeing and executing engineering activities related to outfitting systems, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budget constraints. This role guarantees the seamless integration of systems into the vessel and monitors their performance until delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement assigned systems design while ensuring compliance with project schedules and financial plans.
  • Facilitate the complete and functional integration of systems into the vessel, verifying spatial alignment and accuracy of all system data.
  • Monitor the operational performance of systems from installation through testing, commissioning, and final delivery.
  • Define materials for assigned systems and manage the configuration of the material baseline through functional and production stages.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and the supply chain to gather, validate, and integrate technical and commercial information, ensuring alignment with the overall project timeline.
  • Assist in Detail Design, Planning, Supply Chain, and Production efforts to guarantee that designed systems are delivered on schedule.
  • Support production planning and execution with risk management oversight, enabling timely installation and adherence to build schedules.
  • Ensure the quality of design outputs and compliance with established specifications.
  • Adhere to discipline-specific standards throughout the engineering process.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant Engineering or Naval Architecture field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer or Incorporated Engineer designation from a recognized institution.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in Engineering, ideally with a focus on maritime systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working within a diverse project team is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical skills for data gathering and synthesis, ensuring accuracy and relevance in the analysis process.
  • Proficient technical writing abilities, capable of producing clear and detailed technical specifications, procedures, and reports.
  • Familiarity with MRP, purchasing, and management systems is preferred.
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D design software; AutoCAD 2D is mandatory, while SOLIDWORKS and CADMATIC are considered assets.
  • Experience in hydraulic systems design is a plus.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Critical thinking skills to assess change requests, projects, and designs for potential schedule or budget impacts.
  • Capability to work independently and provide technical guidance on testing, evaluation, and enhancement of engineering outcomes.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safety standards and adherence to all safety regulations and policies.
  • Proficient in computer skills, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Eligibility for Reliability Security Clearance or higher as required.
