Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Detail Designer to lead our Detail Design Team in the development of complex 3D models and Manufacturing Information (MI) for our shipbuilding projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of detail designers to ensure the successful completion of projects within scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Develop and implement design standards, processes, and quality control procedures to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, and production, to ensure seamless integration of design and manufacturing processes.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to team members to ensure accurate and complete design documentation.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of services.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, identifying and mitigating risks to ensure project success.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve design processes and deliverables.
Requirements
  • Marine Engineering degree in Structure, Mechanical/Piping/HVAC, Electrical, Outfitting & Joinery, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of ship design experience, with a proven track record of leading and coordinating diverse multicultural design teams.
  • Strong technical knowledge and expertise in CAD software, document control systems, and Class requirements.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to develop solutions to complex technical problems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to gather and analyze data to inform design decisions.

  • A competitive salary range of $108,000 - $132,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
