Job Summary:

Lunchroom Supervisors work under the direction of the Principal of the school to which they have been appointed. They are responsible for supervising students who remain on the school grounds over the lunch hour recess. The Principal determines the time period during which the lunchroom supervisor will be employed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in various classroom settings to provide lunch break supervision on a daily or supply basis.
  • Supervise the setting-up and removal of lunch room equipment.
  • Supervise the disposal of lunch refuse in suitable containers and the general cleaning of the lunch room areas.
  • Deal with discipline problems in a manner prescribed by the Principal and report significant disciplinary actions to the Principal or their designate.
  • Carry out such noon hour supervision duties as the Principal may assign.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children.
  • Ability to ensure the safety and security of students.
  • Ability to communicate with staff, students, and parents.
  • Willingness to work with students with different needs and capabilities.
  • Ability to work as a team player.
  • Proven record of attendance and punctuality.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working in a diverse school community and/or work environment.

Working Conditions:

Lunchroom supervisors will generally work approximately 1-2 hours per day (or more depending on the school's requirements) during the school year from September to June.

Applicants must live within a reasonable distance to the school. Two business, professional supervisory references are required.
