About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned professional to join our dynamic team at IBM Computing as a Senior Technology Advocate. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about building vibrant communities and driving engagement through strategic events, leadership, and advocacy.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Community Building: Foster a thriving user group community through strategic events such as meetups, conferences, and webinars, ensuring a strong network of technology enthusiasts.
  2. Leadership & Advocacy: Empower and support user group leaders, providing them with the resources and guidance needed to succeed and grow their communities.
  3. Content & Communication: Partner with the User Advocacy Program Evangelist to craft compelling content that showcases the success of user groups and drives excitement for upcoming events, keeping the community engaged and inspired.
  4. Expansion & Outreach: Develop and implement strategies to expand the reach of user groups, fostering partnerships and collaborations that drive growth and innovation.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  1. Experience: Prior experience in an advocacy role (client advocate, developer relations, user advocacy, program evangelist, community manager) within technology, with a proven track record of success.
  2. Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and inspire, with experience in managing and growing communities, and a strong understanding of what drives engagement and participation.
  3. Communication: Exceptional communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with diverse audiences, including senior executives, and a strong ability to craft compelling content that resonates with various stakeholders.
  4. Project Management: Strong project management abilities, with a disciplined approach to achieving goals, and a proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
