The Strategic Planning and Initiatives (SPI) division offers essential services to the University in the realms of advanced data analysis, financial insights, business intelligence, strategic and operational planning, and project oversight.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Strategic Planning and Initiatives, the selected candidate will assist in the department's efforts across all primary service areas. The ideal applicant will possess a strong enthusiasm for higher education and excel in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.

Analytics and Business Intelligence Assistance
  1. Conduct literature reviews, environmental assessments, benchmarking studies, and explore trends and best practices in higher education, presenting findings effectively.
  2. Create and refine resources and tools such as templates, document management systems, and infographics.
  3. Prepare and deliver data reports and packages for academic program evaluations and quality assurance.
  4. Support the design, administration, and analysis of surveys initiated by the SPI division.
  5. Assist in data verification and accuracy checks to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  6. Contribute to the collection, qualitative analysis, and reporting of data pertinent to strategic initiatives and projects.
Planning, Reporting, and Project Management Assistance
  1. Provide general administrative support to the department, including supply ordering, meeting scheduling, and maintaining department webpages.
  2. Oversee user accounts and licenses for the department's business intelligence software.
  3. Facilitate focus groups and workshops related to strategic initiatives and projects.
  4. Coordinate and schedule external reviewer visits for program evaluations.
  5. Offer administrative support to committees and working groups as necessary.
  6. Maintain project management tools to track tasks, issues, deliverables, and timelines.
  7. Draft progress reports, project charters, and briefing notes as needed.
  8. Assist with documentation and reviews of business processes.
Required Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree in a research-focused field such as Social Sciences, Economics, or Statistics.
  2. A minimum of three years of recent experience in research and data analytics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  3. Familiarity with the post-secondary education sector and a working knowledge of academic planning and quality assurance processes, including curriculum development.
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 for Business (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, Teams, and SharePoint) and project management tools.
  5. Strong attention to detail, versatility, and flexibility to manage complex and shifting work assignments.
  6. Exceptional written, oral, and visual communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
  7. Demonstrated capability to support change management strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
  8. Experience in supporting projects, strategic planning, and collaborating with leaders at various levels.
  9. Experience in conducting environmental scans, identifying trends, and developing documents and tools.
  10. Familiarity with survey research, including questionnaire design, sampling, statistical analysis, and report writing.
  11. Experience in managing software licenses.
  12. Experience in qualitative data analysis, research design, reporting, and data visualization using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, SPSS, NVivo, Excel, and Qualtrics.
  13. Experience in performing literature reviews and utilizing reference management software like Zotero or Mendeley.
  14. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional team.
  15. Understanding and application of policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Certification in Change Management.
  2. Project Management Professional (PMP) designation.
  3. Certified Business Process Professional (CBPP) designation.
  4. Experience in a similarly sized and unionized post-secondary environment.
