Join our team as a Critical Care Registered Nurse at Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking dedicated Registered Nurses to become part of the Intensive Care Unit team. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on patient care.

Responsibilities of the Critical Care Registered Nurse include:

Delivering urgent nursing care to patients of various ages presenting with diverse symptoms in unpredictable environments, including critically ill patients requiring life-support and those recovering from anesthesia. Acting as a key member of the emergency response team, stabilizing and resuscitating trauma victims, and preparing for disaster response. Enhancing the quality of life from the perspective of patients and their families. Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care. Demonstrating leadership and expertise in nursing practices. Maintaining and advancing clinical skills and knowledge. Participating in designated hospital committees and approved research initiatives as required.

Additional Information

Relocation assistance and staff housing options may be available. Eligible nurses may qualify for student loan forgiveness for British Columbia student loans.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Active registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) is mandatory. Completion of a recognized critical care nursing program or an advanced emergency care nursing program is required. A minimum of two (2) years of recent, relevant experience is necessary.

Skills & Competencies

Extensive knowledge of nursing theories and practices within a patient-centered care framework. Familiarity with BCCNM's standards for nursing practice. Proven ability to develop and implement care plans based on patient and family needs. Strong assessment and interviewing skills. Ability to manage trauma situations effectively in emergency settings. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team. Physical capability to perform the duties of the role. Proficiency in using medical equipment and technology relevant to the clinical area.
