Role Summary

The On-Site Administrator plays a crucial role within the hospital's administrative framework, providing both administrative and clinical support to staff during non-standard hours. This position is ideal for individuals eager to embrace leadership opportunities and gain insight into various aspects of hospital operations and clinical services. The Administrator holds significant authority and is expected to exercise sound judgment in decision-making to align with the hospital's goals and values while fostering an environment that reflects the institution's mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing patient flow and managing hospital capacity effectively;
  • Collaborating with all departments to enhance hospital operations, focusing on the allocation and direction of clinical and non-clinical personnel;
  • Ensuring quality care delivery based on theoretical frameworks and evidence-based practices;
  • Facilitating effective communication and serving as a consultant to healthcare professionals and community members;
  • Promoting professional development for oneself and supporting the growth of staff;
  • Ensuring compliance with quality improvement initiatives;
  • Responding to emergency situations and acting as the site commander when necessary;
  • Performing additional duties as required within the scope of the role.
Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.), Level II: Basic Rescuer.
  • Current certification from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Up to five years of relevant experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Three years of direct patient care experience.
  • Two years of progressive administrative experience in nursing.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with excellent interpersonal abilities.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficient problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of professional standards and quality assurance guidelines.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation impacting healthcare operations.
  • Ability to work effectively as both a team leader and member.
  • Demonstrated decision-making skills and initiative.
  • Commitment to ongoing education and professional development.
  • Flexibility to adapt to a dynamic work environment.
  • Experience in a unionized setting is preferred.
  • Critical care experience is an asset.
  • Membership in a relevant professional organization is preferred.
  • Availability for evening and night shifts is required.
  • Compliance with vaccination requirements is mandatory.
