About the Role

Apollo GraphQL is seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer to join our Growth Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of features that drive user engagement and long-term value.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement complex technical solutions that drive key business outcomes, with a focus on improving user engagement, activation, and retention.
  • Work across Apollo's entire product portfolio, identifying opportunities to introduce technical improvements and new features that enhance user satisfaction and deliver long-term value.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and other engineering teams to align technical initiatives with the company's broader growth objectives.
  • Mentor and guide engineers, fostering technical excellence within the team by conducting design reviews, ensuring code quality, and facilitating knowledge sharing.
  • Lead end-to-end development of new features, from ideation through production, leveraging a modern tech stack including Kotlin, Rust, React, TypeScript, and Postgres.
About You
  • You have extensive experience as a full-stack engineer with a deep understanding of backend systems, infrastructure, and distributed architectures.
  • You've started and owned projects from scratch, whether as a technical lead, a founder, or through significant side projects that drive growth, user engagement, or product innovation.
  • You thrive in ambiguous environments, identifying and driving key opportunities for technical improvements that align with business goals.
  • You're comfortable working with a variety of programming languages and technologies, including Kotlin, Rust, or Java, and have a deep understanding of system design and optimization.
  • You're highly collaborative and enjoy working closely with cross-functional teams to bring new features to life.
What We Offer

Apollo offers a competitive salary range of $167,450 - $211,775 per year, as well as equity and benefits. We're an equal opportunity workplace dedicated to pursuing and hiring a talented and diverse workforce.

This is a remote position that can be done from anywhere in the United States or Canada.
