Job Summary:

The Unit Secretary plays a vital role in the healthcare team at St. Joseph's Health Centre Guelph. Reporting to the Manager, this individual will provide clerical support to assigned hospital units, ensuring a progressive, efficient, and organized healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to healthcare teams, including answering phone calls, fielding questions, and coordinating day-to-day activities.
  • Organize and prepare patient admissions and discharges, maintaining accurate and organized patient filing systems.
  • Process patient orders, photocopy and fax forms, and coordinate transportation as needed.
  • Order supplies, organize staff replacements, and cover other units as required.
  • Contribute to a culture of client and staff safety by adhering to and abiding by patient and staff safety policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary diploma or certificate in an administrative program or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and one year of recent clerical experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated computer skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong organizational and time-management skills.

Working Conditions:

4-hour/8-hour shifts, sick and vacation coverage. Competitive hourly rate of $26.24-$26.87.
