About the Role:

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is seeking a motivated and strategic professional to fill the role of Environmental Advisor. This position is pivotal in steering environmental initiatives and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the development, implementation, and enhancement of environmental management systems and programs, including Waste Management, Biodiversity, and Emissions Control.
  • Provide expert guidance on environmental legislation and compliance, addressing issues and ensuring adherence to established standards.
  • Collaborate with regulatory bodies to negotiate permits and influence environmental regulations.
  • Prepare and analyze environmental compliance reports for both internal stakeholders and regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor and assess environmental performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and reporting findings to management.
  • Conduct technical studies on environmental matters and present findings to senior management.
  • Facilitate training and awareness programs related to environmental practices for various teams.
  • Represent OPG in external committees and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • A four-year university degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • 6-8 years of relevant experience in environmental engineering or planning.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to communicate effectively across various levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in environmental assessment legislation and experience in liaising with regulatory bodies.
