We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Major Gifts to join our team at St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading our major gifts program, cultivating and soliciting gifts from individuals, and working closely with our Chief Development Officer, Chief Executive Officer, and Board of Directors.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and Implement Major Gifts Programs: Design and execute high-performing major gifts programs, including the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors.
- Sustain Current Donors: Foster strong relationships with current donors through regular communication and meaningful recognition of their contributions.
- Cultivate New Donors: Identify and engage new major donors in partnership with our Board of Directors, development office, and senior leadership.
- Expand Planned Giving Efforts: Develop and implement strategies to increase planned giving, including working with functional experts, creating marketing materials, and hosting events.
- Build Partnerships: Collaborate with various departments to build bridges and foster partnerships that support our major gifts programs.
- Reporting and Analysis: Provide regular reports on donor funding and analyze data to inform future development strategies.
- Gift Management: Work with our Director of Development Operations to manage gift pledges and ensure timely fulfillment.
- Case Statement and Funding Priorities: Develop and maintain a compelling case statement and list of funding priorities that align with our major gifts program needs.
- Event Support: Assist with top donor engagement and solicitation for special events, such as the annual Bark Ball and Spring Campaign.
- Marketing and Communications: Develop marketing efforts, including written collateral materials, to support our major gifts programs.
- Stewardship and Follow-up: Ensure ongoing stewardship and follow-up with donors, engaging our communications team as needed.
- Donor Profile Management: Manage personal donor profiles and support our major gifts officer in doing the same.
- Team Leadership: Hire, train, supervise, and inspire a full-time major gifts program manager.
- A bachelor's degree and a minimum of 8 years of experience in development, with a strong record of securing six and seven-figure gifts.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of individuals, including donors, board members, volunteers, and employees.
- Strong strategic and creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply critical thinking to solve problems in an everyday work setting.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, fostering teamwork and addressing conflict constructively and timely.
- Strong time and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to build, train, and mentor staff.
- Solid experience with Microsoft Office and customer relationship management (CRM) software, Raiser's Edge preferred.
- A strong desire to help animals and people, and a commitment to keeping families together.
- Passion for the St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center mission, and a commitment to caring for all animals regardless of age, breed, temperament, or species.
