Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all corporate safety protocols and guidelines, including participation in monthly branch meetings and customer-specific regulations. Report any unsafe practices observed to your Supervisor or Manager.
  • Conduct inspections, maintenance, and repairs on electric overhead traveling cranes and hoists at various customer sites as directed. Be available for on-call duties as part of the service office rotation and provide after-hours support when necessary.
  • Perform on-site troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, structural, and electronic systems to identify equipment malfunctions and determine necessary repairs using visual inspections and appropriate testing equipment. Conduct a thorough post-repair audit to ensure all safety features are operational or document any deficiencies.
  • Document findings and provide corrective recommendations during safety reviews, including issuing written notifications for any safety concerns observed. Discuss with customers their intentions regarding repair purchases and note actions needed to facilitate or complete repairs.
  • Engage with customers on all repair and safety-related matters, offering recommendations during visit reviews to enhance their safety and productivity before departing the job site. Identify items requiring quotations.
  • Complete and submit accurate electronic documentation using established company digital tools, ensuring customer signatures and acceptance are obtained.
  • Understand and apply relevant CSA, OSHA, ANSI, CMAA, HMI, and other industry codes or regulations, refreshing knowledge periodically.
  • Prepare work packages and other necessary documents professionally, accurately, and legibly, submitting them in a timely manner according to established guidelines.
  • Maintain regular communication with the service office and assigned coordinator, adhering to established practices.
  • Ensure all company-issued equipment, vehicles, and assets are maintained in safe and proper working order. Operate tools, equipment, and vehicles responsibly, reporting any deficiencies to your supervisor.
  • Keep a supply of forms, literature, inventory, and miscellaneous materials in the service vehicle, documenting usage or sales to customers as required.
  • Follow all established safety rules and procedures, including those set by customers.
  • Participate in monthly safety meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Qualifications:

Education: A recognized trade qualification as a Journeyman Electrician, Journeyman Millwright, or equivalent experience in terms of skills and knowledge, or an Associate's degree in Industrial Electrical/Mechanical Technology with related experience.

Experience: Minimum of 1 year, or as dictated by provincial legislative requirements and CSA standards.

Other Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with a good driving record. Must be physically fit and able to work at heights, climb ladders, and navigate walkways. Strong computer, written, and verbal communication skills are essential, along with excellent customer interaction abilities. Flexibility to work overtime or as required by customer operations is necessary, as is the ability to travel and work out of town when needed.
