Project Engineer

The Project Engineer role is essential for managing engineering initiatives from inception through to the testing phase. This position is primarily responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing new projects or processes while ensuring adherence to organizational standards, procedures, and workflows.

Key Responsibilities

· Identify and specify necessary tools and fixtures.

· Maintain effective communication with clients and suppliers.

· Collaborate with customer-focused teams.

· Estimate cycle times and costs for each operational step.

· Establish production targets and objectives.

· Assist in the preparation of cost estimates.

· Manage customer drawings and revisions effectively.

· Ensure processes are capable of producing components to required specifications.

· Update processes and documentation as necessary.

· Maintain records and share information with other departments.

· Lead SPQP activities.

· Prepare project SRED documentation.

· Design line layouts.

· Monitor data for performance and maintenance metrics.

· Track failure rates, mean time between failures, and associated labor and material costs.

· Determine appropriate materials and equipment for projects, applying relevant codes and standards.

· Select suitable measuring tools and methods.

· Take on project management responsibilities to coordinate with personnel from other departments.

Qualifications

· A degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.

· At least three years of experience in a machine shop, ideally in a high-volume setting.

· Proficient in reading electrical and electronic schematics, blueprints, and understanding pneumatic/hydraulic systems.

· Familiarity with SPC methods, process capabilities, and lot control techniques.

· Knowledge of LPS and related tools, including value stream mapping, as well as TS 16949 standards.

· Experience with statistical analysis software and CAD tools such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
