Job Title: Residential Support Worker

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Residential Support Worker to join our team at IkweWiddjiitiwin Inc. As a key member of our support team, you will provide supportive services to women in their recovery from the effects of abuse.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a role model, guide, counselor, and advocate to assist residents in recognizing their current needs and goals.
  • Work with families in a mutual effort to confront and overcome conditions that have contributed to personal difficulties.
  • Encourage self-awareness, self-worth, and increased independence in residents.
  • Provide supportive services designed to support women in their recovery.
  • Work cooperatively with others and contribute as a team member.

Qualifications:

  • S.W. preferred or some university-related study towards a degree in the field of human services and a minimum of two years related experience.
  • Applied Counselling Certificate and a minimum of two years related experience.
  • Certificate (2 year) in the field of human services and a minimum of two (2) years and related experience.
  • Other equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Knowledge of the Indigenous culture and customs, community needs, and Indigenous Women's issues is essential.
  • Must be aware of the effects of abuse in all forms as well as the recognition of the needs associated with healing and ways to meet those needs.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both oral and written, are essential.

Working Conditions:

Casual shifts available, up to two 8-hour shifts a week and two full weekends a month.
