Position Overview

WARD CLERK, MSICU (2 POSITIONS)

Reporting Structure: Nurse Manager

Employment Type: Permanent Part-Time

In the role of WARD CLERK within the Medical Surgical Intensive Care Unit, the primary duties encompass:

  • Managing reception tasks and providing essential clerical assistance.
  • Organizing and maintaining both electronic and physical patient records.
  • Facilitating patient administration duties, including scheduling appointments and coordinating meetings.
  • Overseeing unit administrative operations to ensure smooth functionality.
  • Performing additional responsibilities aligned with the role as necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • A minimum of one year of relevant clerical experience.
  • Familiarity with office practices and procedures.
  • Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Strong data entry and keyboarding skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to produce high-quality work in line with hospital standards.
  • Capacity to work efficiently in high-pressure situations.
  • Preferred: Completion of a recognized post-secondary secretarial arts program.
  • Preferred: Experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Compliance with vaccination requirements as per health regulations.
  • Availability for night shifts is necessary.
