About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Family Support Specialist to join our team at the Child Development Institute. As a Family Support Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing support and services to children, youth, and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assessment and Treatment Planning: Lead assessments and actively participate in the assessment and treatment planning process, monitor progress, analyze feedback and results, and adjust plans as needed.
  • Counselling Services: Deliver mental health treatment services for children (ages 6-11) and their families as identified in the treatment plan, including individual, family, and group counselling.
  • Case Management: Lead case management activities and case review meetings, initiate case conferences, and recommend additional mental health services in the community.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date client documentation, including assessment reports, intervention plans, closing reports, and statistics.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Liaise with other CDI staff, including clinicians and experts in their field, to ensure appropriate communication, service coordination, and delivery for children, youth, and their families.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Master's in Social Work, eligible to register with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), or a Registered Psychotherapist in Ontario.
  • Clinical Knowledge and Skills: Experience applying various mental health intervention modalities, working with children, youth, families, and groups in a therapeutic or clinical setting.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent listening skills, mental attentiveness, and ability to focus on the needs of individuals or groups.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Comfortable working in a highly distractible environment, handling interruptions, and adapting to changing circumstances.
  • Professionalism and Integrity: Dedicated and supportive team player, with high standards of accountability and professionalism.
