We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as the Senior Director Indigenous Relations and Strategic Initiatives. This is a full-time administrative position that requires a strong background in Indigenous education and strategic initiatives.

The Opportunity:

The Senior Director Indigenous Relations and Strategic Initiatives will provide leadership and management focusing on advancing Indigenous education for the entire college and its stakeholders. The incumbent will manage service and program operations, contribute to further strategic planning and implementation efforts, and lead and support research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and management in Indigenous education and strategic initiatives
  • Manage service and program operations
  • Contribute to further strategic planning and implementation efforts
  • Lead and support research initiatives
  • Supervise team members in Indigenous education

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Adult Education or Business Administration
  • Master's degree in a related field preferred
  • Minimum 7-10 years' experience in progressive leadership and management roles
  • Well-developed leadership skills
  • Excellent team building, interpersonal, communications, decision-making, time-management and planning skills
  • Excellent human resource management skills along with conflict resolution and facilitation experience
  • Extensive experience managing budgets and sound financial management practices
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to liaise effectively with a variety of internal/external contacts at all levels
  • Strong commitment to a client-centred philosophy
  • Proficiency in a First Nations language is considered an asset
  • A thorough understanding of and respect for the cultural protocols of First Nations communities in the area is required
  • Knowledge of the Ontario College system
  • Working knowledge of a variety of software, including MS Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Indigenous ancestry
  • Knowledge of the Anishnaabek people and their cultural protocols

Sault College provides an attractive total compensation package, encompassing competitive wages/salaries, a defined benefit pension plan, group insurance benefits, and a variety of employee perks. This is a full-time administrative position. Salary range is a payband 14 and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
