Job Summary

The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legislative Television Manager to lead the planning and delivery of all broadcasts, recordings, and production aspects of Legislative Television. This is a critical role that requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Broadcast Operations: Oversee the effective planning and delivery of all broadcasts, recordings, and production aspects of Legislative Television, ensuring compliance with legislated requirements.
  • Manage Audio-Visual Production: Lead a team of staff involved in the broadcast, recording, and distribution of Nova Scotia House of Assembly proceedings, including legislative business, standing committees, select committees, and commissions.
  • Provide Technical Expertise: Advise the Speaker, Chief Clerk, and Members of the Legislative Assembly on technical operations and represent the Speaker in directing audio-video production services for public events.
  • Consult and Collaborate: Act as a consultant for House of Assembly staff and officials, government departments, agencies, media representatives, and clients, providing technical expertise, event planning skills, and production management.
  • Preserve Legislative Proceedings: Ensure the preservation of legislative proceedings by protecting original audio-video tape, CD, and DVD recordings and monitoring digital conversion for archival purposes.
Requirements
  • Comprehensive Experience: 10+ years of experience in audio-video recording and television broadcast operations.
  • Technical Knowledge: Knowledge of web streaming techniques, computer technology, systems, and software applications to provide technical guidance related to AV production and broadcast content.
  • Management Skills: Superior management skills and techniques, including planning, organizing, integrating, directing, and controlling, as well as excellent leadership skills and exceptional interpersonal abilities.
  • Parliamentary Environment: Experience working in a parliamentary or legislative environment with an understanding of its rules, practices, and protocols.
