Surgical Instrument Reprocessing Specialist - Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital
The primary role involves the thorough decontamination, reprocessing, and sterilization of medical equipment, supplies, and instruments.
Key Responsibilities
Efficiently managing a diverse workload in a dynamic healthcare setting. Proactively addressing and resolving challenges in a constructive and respectful manner. Utilizing sound professional judgment and adhering to best practice protocols. Fostering a safe and inclusive atmosphere for all by complying with established patient and staff safety regulations.Required Qualifications
Completion of Secondary School or an equivalent educational background. Successful graduation from a Sterile Processing Technician Program (or equivalent) accredited by a recognized institution. A minimum of two years of experience with intricate surgical instruments and operating room tools. Familiarity with Low Temperature Sterilization techniques. Proficient computer skills are essential. A solid understanding of Medical Terminology is necessary.Additional Skills and Attributes
Proven expertise in cleaning, decontaminating, inspecting, testing, packaging, and sterilizing instruments, as well as high-level disinfection of endoscopes. Demonstrated knowledge in the cleaning and sterilization processes for respiratory equipment. A working knowledge of Infection Control practices and Aseptic principles. Capability to perform the essential functions of the position effectively. Employing empathy in all interactions with colleagues and patients. Exhibiting behaviors aligned with Mackenzie Health's values of Excellence, Leadership, and Empathy. A commitment to delivering an outstanding experience for both staff and clients in a challenging yet rewarding healthcare environment.Preferred Experience
Ideally, two years of experience in Central Sterile Processing or related fields.*This position is represented by OPSEU
