About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Clinical Therapist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide mental health services directly in the school community environment within designated SchoolsPlus schools.

About the Role

  • Provide individual and group evidence-informed therapies based on care plans to clients with mental illness, substance use disorders, and/or concurrent disorders.
  • Collaborate with families in relation to sharing information and implementing family-sensitive services that involve families in the care and recovery of people living with mental illness and addiction.
  • Act as a liaison between the client, school, and mental health services.
  • Participate in the planning, development, provision, and evaluation of mental health services for the assigned population in designated school settings.

About You

  • You have a Master's degree in a clinical health-related discipline (Masters in Social Work, Psychology (Registered, Masters), Masters in Counseling, Masters in Nursing, Masters in Occupational Therapy).
  • You are currently registered with a relevant provincial regulatory body.
  • You have two years' related clinical experience, including assessment and planning, treatment and intervention, and discharge planning.
  • You have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of standard criteria used (DSM V) for the classification and diagnosis of mental health disorders.
  • You have demonstrated knowledge and skills in providing individual and group evidence-informed therapies based on care plans to clients with mental illness, substance use disorders, and/or concurrent disorders.
  • You have demonstrated knowledge and skills in collaborating with families in relation to sharing information and implementing family-sensitive services that involve families in the care and recovery of people living with mental illness and addiction.
  • You have demonstrated knowledge and skills in crisis intervention, suicide and violence risk assessment/intervention.
  • You have excellent problem-solving, organizational, and prioritization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • You have demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently with limited supervision, and participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
