About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team. As an Occupational Therapist, you will work collaboratively with clients, caregivers, and family members to facilitate, restore, and maintain optimal levels of function in areas of self-care, productivity, and leisure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up services to clients in various settings, including hospitals, homes, and communities.
  • Establish individualized treatment plans and goals in collaboration with clients, and manage a busy caseload with excellent clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Develop and implement education programs and provide support to clients, families, and caregivers.
  • Contribute to the clinical education of occupational therapy students and related health disciplines, and supervise occupational therapy assistants.
About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Occupational Therapist who possesses the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Occupational Therapy.
  • Licensure with the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia is mandatory.
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS-C).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate education programs and interact positively with patients/clients, families, other healthcare providers, and staff.
  • Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness, and organizational health.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while effectively planning, organizing, and supervising.
  • Ability to be flexible and adjust to the changing needs of the service and the program/facility.
  • Competencies in other languages are an asset, with French being preferred.
Hours
  • Permanent, Part-time (40%) position; 30 hours bi-weekly.
  • Travel to other sites is required, and a reliable vehicle is necessary.
Compensation and Incentives

The successful candidate will receive a competitive hourly rate of $33.97 - $42.90, and may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
