Job Summary
The Secretary provides administrative support to the healthcare team in an oncology clinic setting. This role involves maintaining a safe environment for patients, families, and staff by adhering to safety policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and respond to patient calls, referring calls to other parties as necessary.
- Coordinate appointments and tests with the clinical team.
- Access patient information systems to retrieve patient data.
- Arrange meetings and conferences, and prepare agendas and minutes.
- Open, screen, and distribute mail, and maintain information and correspondence.
- Assist with collecting, collating, and formatting reports.
- Support clinicians with research documents and grant applications.
- Assist with clinician scheduling and timekeeping.
- Participate as a collaborative member of the healthcare team.
Requirements
- Grade 12 graduation from a recognized secretarial program, including a recognized course in medical transcription, and three years' recent related experience.
- Ability to keyboard at 50 wpm.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to organize work and operate related equipment.
- Awareness of and commitment to reconciliation and Indigenous cultural safety.
