Job Overview
The City of Ottawa's Recreation, Cultural and Facility Services department is dedicated to fostering a vibrant and inclusive community. We ensure that residents and visitors have access to a variety of recreational and cultural programs, events, and facilities that enhance their experience of the City.
As an Advanced Arts Educator , you will be tasked with the design, delivery, and assessment of innovative instructional programs across various artistic disciplines, including theatre, dance, music, visual arts, literature, and multimedia arts for participants of all ages.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should possess a university or college degree in Fine Arts, Art History, or a related field, or have equivalent professional experience in one or more artistic disciplines. A minimum of five years of practical experience in teaching or practicing within the arts is required.
Experience working with diverse age groups in an educational arts setting is essential.
Certifications and Training
Applicants must hold current certifications in Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or AED, along with AODA Customer Service/IASR Training and High Five training courses.
Knowledge and Skills
- Comprehensive understanding of interpretive techniques and aesthetic concepts relevant to the arts.
- Familiarity with registration processes and visitor management.
- Awareness of local arts organizations and educational curricula.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations pertinent to the arts and recreation sectors.
Competencies and Abilities
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to inspire enthusiasm and creativity in participants.
- Sensitivity to the diverse needs of various age groups and their learning styles.
- Strong program development capabilities.
