Position Overview
Optimum Mortgage, the residential lending arm of Canadian Western Bank, is experiencing rapid growth. We are seeking a motivated individual who possesses confidence, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
As a Mortgage Documentation Review Specialist, you will excel in evaluating pre-funding conditions and documentation in a digital environment, ensuring compliance with policies, regulations, and audit standards. Your focus on detail and customer service will enhance opportunities generated by brokers.
Key Responsibilities
- Assessing documentation for files, including income verification, down payment sources, title searches, credit reports, purchase agreements, and company and condominium documentation.
- Ensuring fraud detection and conducting thorough inspections and audits.
- Reviewing and approving solicitor conditions.
- Adhering to banking protocols, procedures, regulatory standards, and anti-money laundering (AML) requirements.
- Managing a busy workload in a fast-paced environment, completing an average of nine updates daily.
- Advancing the application pipeline through consistent follow-ups on all approved files, analyzing scheduled funding reports weekly.
- Maintaining prompt communication with a 24-hour response time.
- Identifying efficiencies and challenging existing processes by proposing alternative documentation solutions in collaboration with clients and referral sources.
- Assisting underwriters and business development managers in finalizing transactions.
Qualifications
Essential Knowledge
- Business administration diploma or equivalent professional experience.
- At least three years of experience in mortgage documentation review, with knowledge of Alt-A lending practices considered an asset.
Personal Attributes
- Understanding of mortgage lending guidelines, compliance, regulatory standards, and AML protocols related to fraud detection.
- Experience in reviewing conditions for mortgage files, including income, down payment, title searches, credit reports, purchase documents, and company and condominium documentation.
- Familiarity with mortgage documentation for conventional, high-ratio, and HELOC residential mortgages.
- Strong analytical abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with the capacity to prioritize tasks in a high-pressure, team-oriented environment.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
