About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Estimator to join our team at Whitemud Ironworks Limited. As a key member of our estimating department, you will play a critical role in preparing accurate and detailed estimates of labour and material costs for our projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Estimate Preparation: Prepare comprehensive estimates of labour and material costs for our projects, taking into account various factors such as market conditions, material prices, and labour rates.
  • Quote and Bid Management: Create and submit estimate reports, quote sheets, and bid forms to clients and stakeholders, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  • Tender Analysis: Analyze tenders and recommend awards to our clients, considering factors such as cost, quality, and schedule.
  • Contract Management: Monitor and adjust contract expenditures to ensure projects are delivered within budget and scope.
  • Supply Chain Management: Maintain a directory of suppliers and trade contractors, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of materials and services.
  • Communication and Liaison: Liaise with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure seamless communication and coordination on project changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in estimating or a related field.
  • Certifications: Membership in the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors.
  • Specialized Skills: Specialized environmental skills and knowledge.
  • Work Conditions: Work under pressure, attention to detail, and ability to work 40 hours per week.
Language

English is the primary language of communication in this role.
