Your Role

Our team is actively seeking a Senior Project Manager/Associate specializing in Transportation Engineering (Transit/BRT) to lead a group of project managers, technical experts, and multi-disciplinary specialists in executing transit and rail initiatives. You will be responsible for guiding a team through the design and construction phases of large-scale projects within our expanding transit sector. These projects will encompass various stages, from initial planning through to design, construction, and occupancy. Our focus is primarily on providing Technical Advisory services in collaboration with major government entities, with opportunities to engage in Design Build projects as well.

This role offers flexibility in both the working environment and as a pivotal member of our team, fostering ongoing partnerships with clients and innovating for the future of our business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee multiple projects as a Project Manager or Technical Advisor, ensuring adherence to the approved scope, budget, and timeline.
  • Lead a diverse Design Team, including Engineers, Scientists, Planners, and other specialists.
  • Develop innovative strategies to reassess and enhance our business operations.
  • Champion and supervise our safety initiatives and overall safety culture.
  • Provide daily oversight and maintain communication with clients and project teams.
  • Manage project schedules and budgets throughout all project phases, including tracking and forecasting.
  • Review and monitor contracts, invoices, and payments to contractors and consultants.
  • Ensure quality control through leadership in safety programs, plan reviews, and inspections.
  • Assist in negotiating contracts among all project stakeholders.
  • Oversee the approval process for invoices and change orders related to the project.
  • Evaluate and assist in resolving disputes and claims as they arise.
  • Collaborate regularly with colleagues in our multi-disciplinary design office.
  • Manage financial aspects of projects and resource distribution.
  • Support business development efforts and lead proposal initiatives.

Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Exceptional communication and leadership abilities, both verbal and written, along with strong relationship-building skills.
  • Effective organizational and time management capabilities, adept at handling multiple projects and meeting deadlines independently.
  • A robust work ethic with a commitment to excellence and team collaboration.
  • A willingness to learn and a proactive approach as a team player.

Education and Experience

  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in Engineering, Technical Advisory, Construction Management, or related fields.
  • A degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a comparable discipline.
  • A diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or a university degree from an accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in Ontario or with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technologists and Technicians.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is advantageous.
