Position Overview

The Utility Services Lead plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean and safe environment within healthcare facilities. Reporting directly to the Manager of Housekeeping Services, this position emphasizes heavy-duty cleaning tasks while serving as a key link between the front-line housekeeping staff and management.

Key Responsibilities

The incumbent will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing daily cleaning operations and ensuring adherence to cleanliness standards.
  • Assigning tasks and providing direction to housekeeping personnel.
  • Performing a variety of cleaning duties, including mopping, dusting, and maintaining floors.
  • Managing post-discharge cleaning processes and ensuring proper waste disposal.
  • Conducting specialized cleaning tasks such as carpet shampooing and window cleaning.
  • Responding to chemical spills and ensuring safe cleanup procedures are followed.
  • Participating in training and mentoring new staff members.
Qualifications

Ideal candidates will possess:

  • A completed high school education or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a housekeeping role.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to follow and give directions effectively.
  • Knowledge of cleaning products and safety protocols, including WHMIS.
  • Excellent communication abilities.
  • Competency in additional languages is an asset, with a preference for French.
Work Schedule

This is a full-time position requiring 75 hours bi-weekly, with shifts scheduled from late afternoon to evening, including work on weekends.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly wage for this position is competitive, and successful candidates may qualify for a comprehensive benefits package, which includes health and dental coverage, long-term disability insurance, and a pension plan.
