About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join our team at CA001 Marsh Canada Limited. As a key member of our accounting team, you will be responsible for providing financial management and regulatory compliance services to our clients in the insurance industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare financial statements and working paper files in accordance with Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP) for insurance companies.
  • Reconcile cash and investment accounts, and prepare bank deposits and cash disbursements.
  • Plan and complete the annual audit for clients, and prepare regulatory filings.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with domicile captive insurance regulations.
  • Track and reconcile claims activity, and maintain client files in accordance with our standard filing system.
  • Maintain client contact and availability for special projects requested by management and clients.
  • Monitor and document team and client activities to prevent and detect problems.
  • Prepare memos and other correspondence, and correspond with other service providers.
  • Maintain client and office databases, and investigate outstanding issues on client accounts.
  • Prepare meeting materials and participate in the annual board of directors' meeting and other client meetings.
Requirements
  • 2 years of accounting experience, with a focus on insurance industry accounting and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, confidence, and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and with external clients.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Relevant captive experience.
  • 3+ years of experience working with or within a life insurance company and familiar with Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP) for insurance companies.
  • Familiarity with US regulatory requirements for insurance companies.
