Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Corrosion Protection Specialist to join our team at Aegion. As a Corrosion Protection Specialist, you will play a critical role in protecting and preserving infrastructure by testing, evaluating, and installing cathodic protection systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and perform duties involved with testing, evaluation, and installation of cathodic protection systems to inhibit corrosion on various structures.
  • Work with specific objectives and instruction from senior staff on customer drawings and specifications.
  • Conduct various specific test procedures to gather data for evaluation purposes.
  • Gather structure-to-soil potential data, soil measurements, and rectifier data.
  • Sketch rectifiers, anodes, test stations, and other design features on prepared drawings.
  • Assist senior staff in the preparation of survey reports and final job reports.
  • Sketch physical features of installation site for subsequent detail.
  • Organize and reduce data gathered, prepare charts and tables.
  • Assemble data for preparation of final client report including service recommendations.
  • Diagnose and recommend remedies for system difficulties observed during resurvey operations.
  • Recommend modifications as needed.
  • Apply basic skills learned as Corrosion Tech I with increasing independence.
  • Provide maintenance of field test equipment, ensure good operating condition, and render minor repairs.
Requirements
  • Technical Engineering Diploma, Apprentice/Journeyman Electrician preferred.
  • NACE CP Tester or Technician certification.
  • 3 years Cathodic Protection corrosion experience, ideally on oil and gas lines or assets.
  • Rectifier training considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with computer software tools (Microsoft Word and Excel).
  • Able to travel and work overtime on an as-needed basis.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds/22 kg.
  • Experience operating quads and snowmobiles.
  • Required safety training include H2S Alive, Standard First Aid, Defensive Driving, WHMIS, TDG.
