We are seeking a skilled Corrosion Protection Specialist to join our team at Aegion. As a Corrosion Protection Specialist, you will play a critical role in protecting and preserving infrastructure by testing, evaluating, and installing cathodic protection systems.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and perform duties involved with testing, evaluation, and installation of cathodic protection systems to inhibit corrosion on various structures.
- Work with specific objectives and instruction from senior staff on customer drawings and specifications.
- Conduct various specific test procedures to gather data for evaluation purposes.
- Gather structure-to-soil potential data, soil measurements, and rectifier data.
- Sketch rectifiers, anodes, test stations, and other design features on prepared drawings.
- Assist senior staff in the preparation of survey reports and final job reports.
- Sketch physical features of installation site for subsequent detail.
- Organize and reduce data gathered, prepare charts and tables.
- Assemble data for preparation of final client report including service recommendations.
- Diagnose and recommend remedies for system difficulties observed during resurvey operations.
- Recommend modifications as needed.
- Apply basic skills learned as Corrosion Tech I with increasing independence.
- Provide maintenance of field test equipment, ensure good operating condition, and render minor repairs.
- Technical Engineering Diploma, Apprentice/Journeyman Electrician preferred.
- NACE CP Tester or Technician certification.
- 3 years Cathodic Protection corrosion experience, ideally on oil and gas lines or assets.
- Rectifier training considered an asset.
- Proficiency with computer software tools (Microsoft Word and Excel).
- Able to travel and work overtime on an as-needed basis.
- Able to lift 50 pounds/22 kg.
- Experience operating quads and snowmobiles.
- Required safety training include H2S Alive, Standard First Aid, Defensive Driving, WHMIS, TDG.
