Mental Health Counselor – Woodland Wellness Centre

The Lac La Ronge Indian Band's Woodland Wellness Centre is seeking applications for the position of Mental Health Therapist within the Prevention & Recovery Department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct individual, family, and group interviews to gather comprehensive case history and prepare intake documentation.
- Evaluate client strengths, challenges, and needs to determine appropriate services.
- Deliver therapeutic interventions to help clients cultivate skills for managing and overcoming personal and social challenges.
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to foster a self-help approach aimed at enhancing the health and social well-being of community members.
- Engage in community development initiatives that bolster mental health awareness and resources.
- Provide ongoing support to individuals and families transitioning from external treatment facilities.
- Design and implement school-based mental health programs.
- Formulate a crisis intervention strategy tailored for community needs.
- Offer crisis intervention services and facilitate emergency shelter referrals.
- Organize and execute the delivery of targeted community services.
- Conduct workshops and presentations on various mental health topics and life skills.
- Uphold professional confidentiality in accordance with legal and child welfare reporting standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Immediate Supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related discipline.
- Preferred 1-2 years of experience in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a similar field.
- Proficient in counseling individuals across all age groups.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Current Professional Registration with a relevant Regulatory Body.
- Experience working with First Nations communities is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Cree language is a plus.
- Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver's License and have access to a reliable vehicle.
- Must provide a recent and satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, and Driver's Abstract.
