The Lac La Ronge Indian Band's Woodland Wellness Centre is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Mental Health Counselor within the Prevention & Recovery Department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct individual, family, and group interviews to gather comprehensive case history and prepare intake documentation.
- Evaluate client strengths, challenges, and needs to determine appropriate services.
- Deliver therapeutic interventions to help clients develop coping strategies for personal and social challenges.
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to foster a self-help approach that enhances the health and social well-being of community members.
- Engage in community development initiatives aimed at improving mental health awareness and resources.
- Provide ongoing support to individuals and families transitioning from external treatment facilities.
- Design and implement school-based mental health programs.
- Create crisis intervention strategies tailored for community needs.
- Offer crisis management services and referrals for emergency shelter.
- Organize and execute specific community service programs.
- Facilitate workshops and presentations focused on mental health topics and life skills.
- Uphold professional confidentiality in accordance with legal and child welfare standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Immediate Supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related discipline.
- Preferred 1-2 years of experience in Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology.
- Proficient in counseling individuals across various age groups, including children and youth.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional registration with a recognized regulatory body is required.
- Experience working with First Nations communities is an advantage.
- Proficiency in Cree language is beneficial.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle are mandatory.
- A recent Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, and SGI Driver's Abstract are required.
