The Government of Nova Scotia is committed to the sustainable management of mineral resources and enhancing public health initiatives. We are currently seeking a Geologist 4 to become a vital part of our Geological Survey Division.

Role Overview

  • Engage in field research to deepen the understanding of provincial bedrock geology
  • Offer specialized knowledge to operational teams and stakeholders
  • Spearhead the provincial bedrock mapping initiative

As the Geologist 4, you will take charge of designing and implementing geological mapping surveys, employing state-of-the-art tools to boost precision and effectiveness. Reporting directly to the Manager of Project Operations, your contributions will be essential in generating an updated provincial bedrock map.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct an advanced geoscience mapping initiative
  • Perform geological mapping, core logging, and analysis of bedrock formations
  • Gather and interpret high-quality geological data
  • Publish geoscience reports and products
  • Oversee field programs and collaborate with project partners
  • Work in conjunction with internal and external teams
  • Engage in program planning and assessment

Required Qualifications

Candidates should possess a degree in Earth Science or Geoscience, coupled with significant experience in bedrock mapping. A comprehensive understanding of Nova Scotia's geology is essential, along with strong analytical and communication abilities. Registration with Geoscientists Nova Scotia is mandatory.

Pay Grade: PR 18 Salary Range: $3,000 - $3,500 Bi-Weekly
