Job Summary

The Senior Automation Engineer will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of automation solutions to improve plant efficiency and productivity. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain automation systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement automation solutions to improve plant efficiency and productivity
  • Lead cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain automation systems
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices
  • Analyze PLC, PMC, and robot programs to identify areas for improvement
  • Implement and integrate PLC, PMC/CNC, and robot programs with other systems
  • Track data for performance of automation systems and identify areas for improvement
  • Determine equipment requirements for projects and select appropriate electrical codes
  • Establish standards for programming, components, and systems related to automation

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor of Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering
  • Minimum 7 years experience in PLC and robotic system design, repair, and programming
  • Minimum 5 years of experience integrating new automation systems
  • Familiarity with IT systems
  • Trade license in Industrial Electrical Maintenance (442A) or Engineering License an asset
  • Understanding of electrical/electronic schematic diagrams, blueprints, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems
  • Basic knowledge of computer networking, Ethernet connections, TCP/IP protocol
  • Experience with computer-assisted design
