Job Summary
The Senior Automation Engineer will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of automation solutions to improve plant efficiency and productivity. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for automation and develop strategies for implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of automation solutions to improve plant efficiency and productivity.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for automation and develop strategies for implementation.
- Design, develop, and test automation systems, including PLC, PMC, and robot programs.
- Supervise and inspect the installation, modification, and commissioning of automation systems within the facility.
- Analyze PLC, PMC, and robot programs to identify areas for improvement.
- Investigate failures and unexpected maintenance problems related to automation programming and signals.
- Implement new technology and integrate it with existing systems.
- Track data for performance of the automation and any issues that occur.
- Determine which equipment to use for projects and select appropriate electrical codes.
Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor of Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering.
- Minimum 7 years experience in PLC and robotic system design, repair, and programming. Minimum 5 years of experience integrating new automation systems.
- Trade license in Industrial Electrical Maintenance (442A) would be an asset.
- Engineering License would be an asset.
- Understanding of electrical/electronic schematic diagrams, blueprints, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems.
- Basic knowledge of computer networking, Ethernet connections, TCP/IP protocol.
- Experience with computer-assisted design.
