Engineering Operations Manager

Our Technical Services division is seeking an onsite Technical Manager to oversee engineering functions aimed at enhancing our renewable energy facilities. This role presents a unique opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking organization dedicated to optimizing wind and hydropower operations.
About Evolugen
Evolugen operates as the Canadian arm of Brookfield Renewable, managing a diverse portfolio of 61 renewable energy facilities across the nation. This includes 33 hydroelectric plants, 3 wind farms, and 24 solar installations, collectively generating a total capacity of 1912 MW. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of capital and major maintenance budgets;
- Ensure adherence to budgeted capital and maintenance plans to meet annual objectives;
- Contribute to the development and updates of long-term capital and maintenance strategies for all Ontario facilities;
- Provide engineering insights and develop solutions while overseeing maintenance programs and policies;
- Lead the design and commissioning of engineering projects, acting as Project Manager for successful delivery;
- Manage project-related tasks including work management, proposal reviews, and contract finalization;
- Prepare and oversee contract documentation to ensure compliance with regulations and standards;
- Identify and assess new technologies to enhance operational efficiency and minimize risks;
- Engage with the Region System Operator to ensure compliance and provide strategic recommendations;
- Mentor and supervise a team of project managers and support specialists.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in Electrical Engineering;
- Degree in engineering with eligibility for registration as a P. Eng. in Ontario;
- Strong negotiation, facilitation, and leadership capabilities;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with effective planning and organizational abilities;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications;
- Valid Ontario driver's license and willingness to travel as required.
