Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate and manage a range of complex utilities and processes.
  • Facilitate steel production through essential utility services such as electricity, steam, and compressed air.
  • Efficiently manage high-pressure steam systems and associated equipment.
  • Respond promptly to operational changes and challenges.
  • Monitor operations from both control rooms and field settings, ensuring process stability.
  • Adhere to the TSSA Operating Engineer's Act while supporting steel and energy production.
  • Utilize environmental control systems to meet emission standards.
  • Identify and resolve process issues to maintain safe operations.
  • Conduct equipment shutdowns, isolations, and repairs as necessary.
  • Participate in regular safety training and comply with health and safety protocols.
  • Engage in physically demanding tasks in various temperature environments.
  • Contribute to equipment maintenance to uphold operational reliability.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Operating Engineers certificate with TSSA, including 4th, 3rd, or 2nd class certifications.
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field is advantageous.
  • Experience in operating and maintaining boilers, turbines, and HVAC systems.
  • Supervisory experience is a plus.
  • Willingness to work 12-hour shifts, including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively, with effective communication skills regarding operational matters.
