Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager of HR Business Support Services, this pivotal role acts as a bridge between the AHS Human Resource Department, AHS HR Shared Services, and AHS IT. The PeopleSoft Business Systems Advisor is responsible for providing system support and analytical insights to optimize technology solutions that cater to the requirements of HR Shared Services, AHS HR, and all users of Alberta Health Services' human resource management systems, including PeopleSoft, Recruitment Management System, and eRecords.

This position collaborates within a team of HRMS analysts dedicated to evaluating the needs of various business functions, assisting diverse business users, and aiding management in identifying, analyzing options, and recommending enhancements to business processes. As a Functional Analyst within the HR Business Support Services team, you will leverage your expertise to facilitate the effective delivery and support of various PeopleSoft modules, troubleshoot issues, analyze existing systems and business processes, and develop actionable recommendations for enhancements, fixes, or new processes.

Description:

Define and evaluate the technical and functional requirements of applications, drawing on hands-on experience as a PeopleSoft Business Analyst for HR administration and Manager/Employee Self Service, while also assessing the impact on other modules such as Position Management, Benefits Administration, Payroll, Pension, Payroll Accounting, Self Service, and Time and Labor. Develop essential queries and reports to fulfill the outlined requirements.

Provide project oversight from design through implementation for multiple system enhancements and configuration requests. Identify, track, monitor, and communicate project-related issues, scope changes, variances, and contingencies that arise during the project lifecycle. Assess the needs of various business functions, support diverse business users, and assist management in identifying and analyzing options, while recommending enhancements to business processes.

Prepare, develop, and implement comprehensive functional system design specifications, test plans, and user documentation to ensure functional and technical completeness and accuracy. Troubleshoot potential system issues and contribute insights into proposals and system solutions for various PeopleSoft modules.

Required Qualifications:

Proven experience is essential in:

  • Conducting business requirements analysis activities.
  • Applying an analytical approach to problem-solving, decision-making, and critical thinking.
  • Developing impact analyses.
  • Creating functional, application, and process strategies, solutions, and plans.
  • Formulating test strategies, planning, and executing test phases.
  • Assessing implementation readiness (organizational, application, support).

Proficiency in MS Project, Excel, Publisher, Word, and Visio is required. Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary to work effectively with all organizational levels. Strong leadership skills and the ability to collaborate in a team environment, as well as work independently, are essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with project upgrades is advantageous. Familiarity with a large, complex, and unionized HR/Payroll/Payroll Accounting processing organization is also beneficial.
