About the Role

Rio Tinto is seeking a highly motivated and safety-oriented individual to join our team as an Operator/Maintainer in Mine Operations. As a key member of our Load and Haul division, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment, ensuring production targets are met while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Safety and Compliance: Work safely through appropriate behaviors and adherence to Rio Tinto's safety standards, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and your team.
  2. Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment to ensure optimal performance and extend equipment lifespan.
  3. Production and Efficiency: Operate heavy equipment to meet production targets, while maintaining a focus on efficiency and productivity.
  4. Communication and Teamwork: Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to resolve safety and process deficiencies, and provide feedback on equipment performance.
  5. Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement and develop solutions to eliminate issues and problems in the work area.
Requirements
  1. A commitment to safety and a strong safety record.
  2. A valid Class 5 driver's license; other classes will be considered an asset.
  3. A high school diploma or GED equivalent; or relevant post-secondary training (Heavy Equipment Operator Course) or sufficient years of demonstrated relevant experience.
  4. Previous experience with heavy equipment or in an industrial environment will be considered an asset.
