About the Role

S+L Kitchen & Bar is seeking an experienced and skilled Sous Chef to join our culinary team. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation and Presentation: Prepare and present high-quality dishes that meet our restaurant's standards.
  • Kitchen Operations: Assist the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, including inventory management, food cost control, and labor scheduling.
  • Team Management: Supervise and train a team of kitchen staff, including cooks, dishwashers, and other support staff.
  • Quality Control: Monitor and maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and service.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in managing kitchen inventory, including ordering supplies, managing stock levels, and minimizing waste.
  • Cost Control: Assist in managing kitchen costs, including food costs, labor costs, and other expenses.
  • Health and Safety: Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years' experience in a professional kitchen, preferably in a similar role.
  • Certifications: Food Safe Level 1 and First Aid Level 1 certifications are preferred but not mandatory.
  • Skills: Proficient working knowledge of Word and Excel, and knowledge of Optimum is an asset.
  • Personal Qualities: Detail-oriented, strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
