Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Regional Finance Manager to join our team at First Student Shared Services. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for providing financial support to operations for assigned geographic areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Analysis and Reporting: Assist with location-level audits of accounting transactions and procedures to ensure compliance with IFRS and company policies. Make recommendations and ensure that corrective actions are taken.
  • Training and Development: Train and assist location personnel in the region's accounting systems and procedures. Conduct training sessions to raise financial competency of location and other management as needed.
  • Fleet Management: Review and monitor fleet, including cascading, right sizing, and lost business transitions for the Region. Review the capital request process.
  • Fleet Systems Review: Audit accounting and vehicle maintenance systems to ensure they represent the proper fleet figures, including performance of a periodic physical audit.
  • Contract Management: Assist with the development of contract bids and rate calculations and ensure reasonableness of financial assumptions.
  • Financial Planning and Budgeting: Prepare the yearly operating plan and monthly forecast for the region.
  • Special Projects: Perform special projects and analysis, prepares various reports for operations and other management as necessary.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience required. CPA, CMA, or MBA desirable.
  • Experience: Five years of experience in accounting/finance.
  • Language: Bilingual French & English communication fluency.
  • Skills: Excellent verbal communication skills with all levels of personnel. Personal computer/software skills.
Working Conditions
  • Travel: Approximate 20% travel.
