ROLE OVERVIEW:

Our Care Aides play a vital role in our community by assisting residents in their daily activities while ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. Under the guidance of the Health & Wellness Manager, this position focuses on enriching the lives of our residents, enabling them to maintain their independence and make their own choices.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Completion of secondary education is required.

• Certification from an accredited Health Care Aide program and current registration in the Alberta Health Care Aide directory.

• Successful completion of the Medication Assistance Program (MAP) is essential.

• Certification in Emergency First Aid and CPR is mandatory.

• Experience in a similar role, particularly with seniors, is advantageous.

• Proficient communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving capabilities.

• Dependable and responsible, with a positive attitude that aligns with our mission.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives.

• Collaborate with the care team to assess and provide feedback on resident care plans, addressing their physical, emotional, and social needs.

• Deliver comprehensive care, including cognitive and emotional support, in accordance with established care plans.

• Facilitate residents' daily living activities while respecting their preferences and rights.

• Execute care procedures following established standards and protocols.

• Monitor and document changes in residents' conditions, including vital signs, while maintaining confidentiality in compliance with relevant legislation.

• Complete all necessary documentation accurately and in a timely manner.

• Provide support to colleagues and advocate for residents and their families to uphold residents' rights.

• Utilize equipment and supplies in accordance with safety regulations and policies.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization in residents' living spaces, respecting their personal choices.

• Assist with various duties to ensure the efficient operation of the residence, including housekeeping and inventory management.

• Adhere to infection control protocols and participate in safety training and drills.

• Administer medications and treatments in line with approved care standards and policies.

• Foster effective communication and relationships with residents, families, and healthcare professionals.

• Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Health and Wellness Manager.

• Comply with all corporate policies and complete mandatory training.
