Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in a diverse range of technological tasks within mechanical and electrical engineering, primarily focused on the design and development of automation systems.
  • Prepare and compose innovative and detailed proposals tailored for prospective clients, utilizing foundational automation concepts.
  • Oversee the conceptualization, pricing, and drafting of comprehensive technical proposals for various automation equipment and projects.
  • In complex projects, collaborate with key engineering management members to ensure accurate pricing and conceptual layouts.
  • Support engineers and technical personnel in the design and development of products, systems, processes, and equipment by analyzing technical challenges and adhering closely to client specifications.
  • Travel to client locations to assist in project or product development, ensuring alignment with engineering design specifications and objectives.
  • Engage in product design, testing, machine assembly, equipment installation, and manufacturing processes.
  • Gather and compile all necessary technical information and client specifications from engineering and sales & marketing to prepare detailed proposals.
  • Analyze materials and articulate ideas in a clear, concise manner for initial drafts. May undertake special projects to support engineering and sales & marketing as needed.
  • Define the scope of work sufficiently in proposals to enable project managers and teams to initiate work on systems.
  • Utilize Computer Aided Design software and computerized spreadsheets extensively.
  • Ensure all business activities are conducted with the utmost ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.

Qualifications:

A post-secondary diploma or degree in mechanical design, engineering, or a related field is required.

Experience:

A minimum of three years of experience in mechanical design engineering, with a solid understanding of electrical design within an automation context.

Proficiency in robotics, machine controls, and manufacturing processes is essential, along with the ability to stay updated on cutting-edge technologies.

Familiarity with computerized word processing, presentation software, and spreadsheets, particularly MS Office, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar design software is necessary.

The ability to present ideas, concepts, and pricing information clearly and concisely to technical audiences is crucial.
