Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Contract Administrator to join our Commercial Management Office, supporting the CPG Ontario Line department. The successful candidate will provide commercial support in contract planning, management, and administration services for large-scale, high-profile, and complex capital projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation, review, and administration of high-profile, large-scale, and complex contracts, including P3, Progressive Design Build, construction, and commercial/supplier contracts.
  • Work with internal project teams to define project scope, identify potential project risks, and develop mitigation strategies to ensure risk management and value management.
  • Participate in the preparation and evaluation of procurement/RFP documentation, monitoring contracts to ensure alignment with procurement/contract management strategies and compliance with contractual agreements.
  • Identify and advise the Integrated Project Team on the resolution of critical contract issues, including contractor performance, and monitor contractor adherence to contractual agreements.
  • Enforce contractual obligations and conditions, engaging internal legal representation as needed, and providing assistance in negotiations and resolution of matters.
  • Escalate politically sensitive issues and complex problems to the Senior Manager or Commercial Lead, making recommendations to adjust mitigation tactics throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Administer contractual claims, manage analysis, and resolve disputes related to change orders, errors, and omissions, and negligence evaluation.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of contractual matters and contract management software systems.
Requirements
  • Completion of a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction/Contract/Commercial Law, or a related discipline, or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in contract management and administration of large, multi-billion-dollar contractual agreements, preferably involving large-scale transit infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of contracting principles, processes, methods, practices, accounting, and scheduling principles.
  • Administration of construction contracts, engineering/architectural design contracts, and other technical and professional services contracts.
  • P3 Project Agreements, variation procedures, multi-stakeholder contractual arrangements.
  • Strong knowledge of construction project cycles, standards, and processes to provide commercial contract administration/management expertise/advice.
  • Interpretation and application of contract law, Ontario legislation, and legal statutes and proceedings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with various personnel, including management, professional staff, project teams, and construction site staff.
  • Experience using contract management systems, such as Oracle Unifier.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Prior experience or interaction within a public sector environment.
  • Prior experience negotiating terms and conditions.
