Position Overview:

ExamWorks Group, Inc. is in search of a bilingual (French and English) Director of Human Resources to oversee HR functions across Canada. This role offers the flexibility of remote work with occasional travel for essential meetings and office engagements.

The Human Resources Director will play a pivotal role in aligning the strategic objectives of the organization with the workforce across various business units in Canada. Acting as a trusted advisor to management, this position will assess and anticipate HR needs while championing employee engagement and organizational change. The successful candidate will cultivate collaborative relationships throughout the company to deliver effective HR services that align with business goals. This role involves partnering with leaders at all levels to address employee performance and relations, fostering a positive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate regular discussions with business leaders to identify human capital needs and support organizational change initiatives.
  • Provide HR consultation to management, offering objective insights and guidance on employee relations and operational matters.
  • Analyze HR metrics and trends in collaboration with HR leadership to formulate effective solutions and policies.
  • Manage complex employee relations issues, conducting thorough and impartial investigations.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of employment laws across various provinces, ensuring compliance and minimizing legal risks.
  • Serve as a liaison for French-speaking employees regarding employment matters, including payroll and benefits.
  • Advise on workforce planning, succession planning, and integration during mergers and acquisitions.
  • Guide management on performance management processes, including coaching and disciplinary actions.
  • Champion change management initiatives to support employees and leaders during transitions.
  • Collaborate with management to enhance productivity, workplace relationships, and employee retention.
  • Provide HR policy guidance and ensure adherence to labor regulations across Canadian business units.
  • Assist managers in formulating employment terms for new hires and promotions, ensuring alignment with corporate structures.
  • Identify training needs and evaluate training programs to ensure effectiveness.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for HR-related inquiries and resolve issues promptly.
  • Engage in special projects and miscellaneous duties as assigned by senior management.
  • May supervise HR staff and serve as a mentor for other positions within the organization.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Fluency in both English and French is essential.
  • In-depth knowledge of provincial employment laws and regulations, particularly in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec.
  • Preferred certifications include CPHR and/or CRHA/CRIA.
  • Strong understanding of various HR disciplines, including compensation, employee relations, and performance management.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret employment laws and practices.
  • Proven ability to resolve complex employee relations issues effectively.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
  • Capability to support individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Strong research skills to analyze diverse information.
  • Ability to design effective procedures and solutions based on experience.
  • Commitment to quality and compliance in all HR practices.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and foster a positive team environment.
  • Strong leadership skills to guide teams through change and challenges.
